Well my pc can run this on dx11 but i was wondering whats the diffence. dx9 does it look better also can i run on high in dx9.|||DirextX (DX9 or 11) is the graphic technoloy for game for windows. 11 is the latest version and so would give you better graphics, more details, more realistic if you will. So of course if you can run Dragon Age2 with DX11 go for it ;-)|||The difference depend on whether you have Directx 10 or 11 hardware. DirectX 10 cards support some features of Directx 11 while Directx 11 cards fully support DirectX 11, as long as you're on Vista or Windows 7. Some of the improvements compared to Directx 9 are:
- Better lighting
- Buildings cast shadows on themselves
- Hardware tesselation resulting in smoother landscapes
- Spells, like fireballs, are a more realistic ligh source
- Cloud shadows
Performance will take a hit, though. Some DirectX 11 features are in the demo but one of the devs said the demo runs on an old build and doesn't run as smooth as the retail version.
You can read about the technology of Dragon Age 2 on the BioWare blog.
Part 1 (DirectX 9 and consoles) - http://blog.bioware.com/2011/02/16/the-t鈥?/a>
Part 2 (DirectX 10) - http://blog.bioware.com/2011/03/03/the-t鈥?/a>|||I'm not sure exactly what your asking, but if you can run it on high in dx11 you can for sure run it with the same settings in dx9. Since each ver. of directx looks better than the previous one, dx11 would be more visually appealing than dx9.
