Why is it that PS 3 has such good graphics (same or better than PC), and still manage to run smoothly?

How come the PS 3's graphics are on the same level, or better than PC games, even though the PS 3 graphics card is only half as powerful as the recent graphics cards? I would say the PS 3 graphics would match any new PC game with graphics turned to the highest setting.

For example, when I play Dragon Age 2 on the PS 3, the graphics are excellent, and so is the performance.

But, when I play Dragon age 2 on my Core i7 computer with 6 Gig ram and Geforce GTX 295, I have to turn the graphics setting to the lowest one, and it still lags?|||Apparently, there are others having problems running this game with NVIDIA cards and it doesn't look like there's a fix. See the link below. Most likely, the game wasn't optimised (coded correctly) for the NVIDIA architecture. The PS3 hardware is much less powerful than a GTX 295, but the game runs well on it's architecture. Ever notice that you can't turn up the eye candy on console systems. PC graphics are way better and you can't game at 2560x1600 on a console.|||Technically that is not true. PC's will always outperform any console for the simple fact that PCs are not locked into their graphics card. Remember that the PS3 and XBox have the same graphics card from 3-5 years ago. They cannot change this ever. When they made the chipset for them back then they were equivalent to the best PC could do at the time. Since time has past newer, better cards have been made for the PC. However, to get them one needs to fork out cash and HOPEFULLY there are developers out there willing to push those cards to their max...which most wont...why? because they need to ensure there are sufficient consumer base to buy their product.

All in all though when you compare games on a whole the PC graphics will logically be better than PS3/XBox....but it is dependent on the developer. For example Crysis 2 cannot be done to the same level on PS3 ...but they certainly can trick the PS3 to remove certain aspects to give the illusion.|||the ps3 has all of its hardware dedicated to running one application- your game. Whereas your PC may be running other applications in the background (explorer.exe, steam, etc.)

I don't know why dragon age would lag on your machine, make sure you're not running anything in the background. Close all applications before you start the game, my friend.|||Because PS3 focuses there's game only on graphics and are often not fun not to mention there on blue ray disc so they can hold alot more.|||the blu-ray disk drive and graphics card combo will do this every time

they don't need to run the memory all over the place just to play a game

and it cost only 300.00
